Amanda Miller is the ultimate in #girlboss. Just like me she leads a double life. No sadly we are not secret agents. We are fashion bloggers. An entirely different breed who can burn the midnight oil after a full day at the desk of our day job. We love creativity, inspiration, goal setting and we are intrigued by the latest in fashion and brands.
Amanda Miller is a Treasury Analyst by day and a fashion blogger by night, based in Dallas in Texas. Her style of writing is honest, vibrant, easy going and inviting. I absolutely love grabbing a coffee and reading The Miller Affect, Amanda’s blog.
As usual with LadyM Meets, the interview series, we are going to find out a little bit more about the day in the life of a fashion blogger. You can also read about Amanda’s day from 6:30am to 11pm right here and how she manages two careers.
So on to the usual questions, I can’t wait to learn more about Amanda and her inspiration for the blog;
Q. What encouraged you to get into this industry and what was your route into it?
I had always wanted to start a blog, but had no idea where to begin. When I was a leasing agent I had a resident move in who was a fashion blogger. She taught me the basics on how to get it started and I just took it and ran with it! I launched my own blog in October 2014.
Q. What is a typical working day for you?
I work at my finance job from 7:30-4:30, then run home, take an hour break, and work on my blog roughly from 6-10 pm.
Q. Where are you based, how much of an inspiration is your city and what are your favourite cities around the world?
I am based in Dallas, which is such a huge hub for fashion. We have great events and some really big brands come here to host us! I am a huge, huge fan of London! I could definitely see myself living there!
Q. Have you seen your industry change in the last few years? Have you had to adapt?
We are adapting every day. As more people start blogs, our industry gets more and more saturated. We are constantly having to evolve and find ways to make our own blogs stand out. Also, Instagram is huge for us. With their ever-changing algorithms, it is hard to keep up and find the best strategies.
Q. What’s the most rewarding part of your work? What is your greatest accomplishment so far?
The most rewarding part of my work would definitely be when someone posts something that they bought from my site and tags me in it. They usually say something about how and why they love the piece. I love that I am the one making them feel confident or beautiful in what they are wearing. Greatest accomplishments would definitely be some of the brands I have gotten to work with, like Banana Republic, Coach, Kate Spade, etc.
Q. What is next for you? What are your goals for 2016?
In January 2017 I plan on taking my blog full time as well as travel the world. I may even be doing a ’12 countries in 12 months’ campaign!
How would you describe yourself in three words? Happy, tall, silly
Who would play you in a movie about your life? Blake Lively (LOVE)
Who is your ultimate style icon? Olivia Palermo
Bonus Question – if you didn’t do the job you do now – what would be your dream job and where?
This fashion blog is my dream job! Excited to see where it will take me in the next few years!
